Mike's Construction Industry Experience

Mike has spent years on active California jobsites — not just in an office. That field experience shapes how JMJ quotes, installs, and supports projects.

His work typically includes:

He regularly works in dense urban areas (Los Angeles, Long Beach, LAX district), coastal cities (Newport Beach, Oceanside), Inland Empire markets (Riverside, San Bernardino, Claremont), and Orange County (Santa Ana, Irvine, Lake Forest, Anaheim).

Why Mike Founded JMJ

Mike Muratalla founded JMJ Construction Service with his wife, Julie, in Santa Ana. The goal was simple: be the company contractors can actually count on.

Too many jobsites stall because fencing, toilets, dumpsters, and equipment come from different vendors with different invoices, different delays, and different excuses. Mike built JMJ as a one-stop jobsite partner — local, responsive, and willing to show up on a Sunday emergency or an early-morning airport tarmac setup.

JMJ is a certified diverse business (DBE, MBE, SBE), which helps general contractors meet participation goals on public and private work while still getting practical field service.

JMJ's One-Stop Jobsite Model

Under Mike’s leadership, JMJ is built around contractor support:

  • One call for fencing, toilets, dumpsters, equipment, and related site services
  • One invoice instead of a stack of vendor bills
  • Delivery + installation + removal handled by the same team
  • Compliance add-ons such as SWPPP/QSP support, erosion control materials, and fire watch
  • Statewide California coverage, with strongest daily service in Southern California

This model is for GCs, subs, and property managers who want construction logistics handled so they can stay on schedule.

Projects Mike Has Worked On

These are real JMJ jobs Mike has documented from the field:

Claremont School of Theology — Claremont, CA

Large temporary security fence on the former campus and old dormitories. Post-driven 8-foot chain link with 3-strand barbed wire. Later walkthrough documents more than 4,000 feet of fence, including slope and elevation work to seal east and west dormitories.

Watch: Claremont, CA 4000 ft Temp Fencing

Tesla site containment — Hawthorne Airport, CA

Early-morning full fence containment on the tarmac for a Tesla project.

LAX Construction District — Los Angeles, CA

Same-day privacy screen install so the contractor could keep working without citation risk.

Long Beach Veterans Affairs — Long Beach, CA

480 feet of temporary fencing plus portable toilets for a VA site setup.

AB Custom Builds — Newport Beach, CA

Temp fence and porta potty setup for the start of demolition on a custom home.

Emergency fence — Lake Forest, CA

Sunday 1 PM call after a vehicle hit building pillars. Site secured by 4 PM.

Highland Starbucks / FCS — San Bernardino County

Full site setup including storage, fencing, toilets, and security.

Construction Insights by Mike Muratalla

Mike’s field notes for California contractors:

  • Temporary fencing is not just a barrier. In Los Angeles and Orange County it has to address safety, ADA access, dust, privacy, and local rules.
  • Same-day fencing often prevents stop-work issues and citations on active sites.
  • Vacant institutional buildings (like old dormitories) need post-driven fence, barbed wire, and tight grade transitions — not a standard parking-lot layout.
  • Bundling fencing with toilets and dumpsters reduces delays and missing deliveries.
  • SWPPP/QSP and fire watch belong in the same logistics conversation as fence and equipment when the site is regulated.
